Weymouth Museum are delighted to collaborate with The Seaside Heritage Network to explore and celebrate Weymouth’s seaside heritage. The tour will be expertly led by Dr Allan Brodie of the Seaside Heritage Network, and author of the book Weymouth’s Seaside Heritage
Weymouth was the seaside resort chosen by George III to regain his health at the end of the 18th century, and the town still boasts a rich heritage of Georgian seaside architecture, as well as a lively harbour. Join Allan Brodie for a gentle walk through 300 years of the town’s colourful history.
- Location: meet at King George III statue (DT4 7AN)
- Time: tour departs at 14.00 and lasts approximately 90 minutes
- Walk: Easy – flat to gently rolling with some steps. Paved surfaces.
- Cost: £10 including printed handout
- Booking required: Tour spaces limited to 30
The walking tour will depart from the King George III statue and cover many of Weymouth’s seaside attractions, past and present. The tour includes Weymouth’s Georgian terraces, a short detour into the medieval town, mass tourism provision during the Victorian period, and seaside developments during the 20th Century.
Spaces on the tour are strictly limited and must be pre-booked. Please bring your confirmation email with you on the day.
