Important news regarding the use of drone in the UK.
As of 30th November, you will be required to register your drone with the CAA. Flying any drone between 250g - 20kg without registration will be illegal after this date.***IMPORTANT NEWS FOR DRONE USE IN THE UK***

All drones weighing 250g to 20kg will require mandatory registration from the 30th Nov 2019.

The system will go live on the 5th November and will cost £9. Users will be required to take an online test to prove competence.
Commercial operators will be exempt from this test, if they hold a PFCO or equivalent qualification / permission from the CAA.

Failure to register your drone after this date could land you with a fine or criminal prosecution if you decide to fly it.

Someone was flying a drone on the beach on Sunday afternoon, not so much of a problem when airborne but it come close to my granddaughter when landing . Is it legal ?

you can fly a drone amature or otherwise on the beach or out at sea in Weymouth as long as you obey the rules and common sense. I've been a qualified drone operator a while and with the new laws in some cases it allows non professionals to make money from their drone photos/videos. Great news for some of the amazing amateurs out there. You can see all the no fly zones online..... Weymouth isn't one of them but congestion and crowds are something you have to be aware of. But timing can negate that also with early morning/late evening/night flying.

Good, should’ve been the law a long time ago
