Unfortunate news today that Sandsfoot Castle is to be closed to the public until further notice due to structural faults causing public safety issues.
Engineers will be checking the structure and hopefully theyβll find a solution and the problems. an be fixed before too long ...

Went there today, didn't see anything that concerned us, but we are not experts.
This is a shame Helen Baker xxx
Many hours spent there when young
When I lived in Weymouth many years ago I seem to remember that the castle was fenced off for "safety' reasons. Didn't stop us getting in though. Just added to the excitement of being in there. Usually councils become more safety conscious and fence everything off - not the other way around.
Such a great shame. Hope they get it sorted to keep a great historical site preserved with it’s beautiful gardens surrounding

Sadly I’ve never managed to visit there on our trips to Weymouth so hope they can reopen again one dayπ€π»
Such a Shane as the gardens are lovely. Hopefully the issue can be resolved
Spent every summer at Sandsfoot when children were little π

So glad we stopped there last night while on a walk to take this stunning shot
we loved this place. we had holidays in weymouth for over 30 years, i have not been back since losing my husband in 2018. weymouth and isle of wight were his favourite places so many memories we found this place in 2014 such a beautiful area.
That's that then. Fenced off and left to rot. π©π©
The cafe and garden are still there but the cafe is currently closed due to renovations and they hope to open again in February.
Leanne Reynolds is that one we went too?xx
