  • Of the three villages that The River Wey passes through on it’s short journey to the sea Radipole is the closest to Weymouth town.

Historically Radipole is very significant as in Roman times when Dorchester was a thriving Roman town Radipole was the roman port through which trade to Dorchester flowed.

There are some interesting sights to see in the village although it’s fair to say that when compared to Upwey the road system doesn’t really lend itself to carefree country walks. Having said that you can pick up a pretty  riverside walk from the village to Radipole Lake which is an absolute joy. The Norman 12th century Parish Church of St Anne’s is definitely not to be missed and whilst there be sure to take a look at the Manor House which dates back to 1600 and the old village school opposite the church which was built in the mid 1800’s.

If you enjoy walking Radipole is within walking distance of the town centre but for those who prefer to travel by car you’ll find a small car park in the village next to the start of the riverside walk.
