Weymouth is once again lining up four weekends of festive events this Christmas, starting with an Elf World Record attempt and the ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ on Saturday 28th November and finishing with a Santa weekend on 19th and 20th December. In between, Steampunks, Victorians, Pirates and Faeries arrive for the Yuletide Weekend, and Hope Square hosts a Traditional Christmas Weekend in aid of Weymouth Foodbank.
The programme spreads across the town centre, from New Bond Street and the Esplanade to Hope Square and the harbourside, with parades, live music, markets, workshops and Santa visits. Local shops, pubs, eateries and charities are joining in throughout, giving visitors plenty of reasons to stay, shop and eat in town.

Shops are also being invited to take part in the Christmas Sparkle competition, with businesses competing to be crowned the best-dressed sparkling Christmas window.
Dawn Rondeau-Irvine, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth, said: “Christmas in Weymouth runs right through December and every year it gets bigger and better. You can be an elf one week and a steampunk the next, then pick up handmade presents in Hope Square or bring the kids to meet Santa. It’s about bringing people into the town centre and supporting the businesses that make it what it is, but it’s also about showing the spirit of Weymouth – look what we achieve when we all come together, it’s truly spectacular.
“A huge thank you to everyone getting involved, from the businesses dressing their windows to the performers, volunteers and charities. Come down, shop local and make a day of it.”

Elsewhere in the town centre, pubs, bars and businesses are also getting into the festive spirit, including:
● Plus lots of LIVE music in pubs and bars across the town every weekend, with some venues hosting Elf parties after the Lights Switch On.
