Ringstead Beach is a generally uncrowded single beach located east of Osmington with access from the main road from Weymouth to Poole.
The beach has a private car park with a small cafe and toilets. Car park charges are £5 a day (2019 rates) and it should be noted that there are no on-road areas for free parking near the beach. Much of the Ringstead Beach area though is owned by The National Trust and you will find signs to its free car park shortly after taking the turning to the beach but be aware that it’s about a twenty-minute walk from this car park to the beach.
Bathing is generally pretty safe at Ringstead but take note that there are no lifeguard facilities here so take care.
A 20-minute walk east along the beach will take you to what is a probably the only, but unofficial, clothing-optional naturist beach in the Weymouth area.
Being a part of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site there are fossils to be found below the cliffs but please take care as cliff falls are not uncommon.
