Tout Quarry sits high up on Portland overlooking Lyme Bay and The Chesil Beach. It offers one of the most interesting and relaxing locations to visit in the Weymouth and Portland area.

Within the park the stone masons art and skills of Portland’s many generations of quarrymen are celebrated with huge and sometimes quite small hidden away sculptures carved from the rocks within the natural quarry environment. Always quiet and peaceful a walk around the park is a time for refection on life around you as you take in a different vista and works of art at each turn you take.

It’s not uncommon to come across stone masons working on their carvings in the park you’ll find them fascinating to watch if you as they work on the stone using tools and techniques unchanged over many generations.

The park is also a haven for nature especially for those with a love of wild flowers and butterflies with many species some quite rare inhabiting the nooks and crannies of the park.

If you’re a photographer be sure to make sure you have plenty of space on your memory card. With beautiful views out to see from the cliffs at the edge of the park, the magnificent sculptures and abundance of wildlife the park is a photographers paradise !
