Nothe Fort Weymouth is hosting a Remembrance Event to honour those who served and remember their sacrifice, this Saturday 11th November. The event will take place between 10:30am-3pm.

The Remembrance Event at Nothe Fort will include an official flag raising with a bugle performance of the Last Post followed by the Nothe Fort Artillery cannon firing, 2-minutes silence and Reveille. The fantastic Bovington Military Wives Choir will then perform a Remembrance set, especially curated for the event.

The fort will also be joined by the Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller, who will be unveiling the community poppy display. This display has been developed over the past two years with Nothe Fort Volunteers and community groups, in partnership with We Are Weymouth UK. This abundance of poppies has been made from recycled plastic bottles, with some members of the community writing a name upon their poppy as a special dedication.

The fort is also thrilled to be joined by the Weymouth Sea Cadets, who will be holding make-and-take activities, where visitors can make their own paracord poppy broches and bracelets (these will also be available to purchase with donations going to the Royal British Legion).

  • 10:30am – Gates Open

Nothe Fort is Weymouth’s number one heritage attraction. Located at the entrance to Weymouth Harbour, the Fort offers excellent 360-degree views across Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Discover the maze of underground passages, a museum of the Fort’s history, parade ground, impressive guns positioned high on the ramparts, and fun trails to keep the children busy. We pride ourselves on our top-quality visitor experience, with friendly volunteers on hand to help.
