Hope Church
Trinity Street
WeymouthDT4 8TW
The talk is by Richard Crumbleholme, who was secretary of the Friends of Weymouth Museum in its early days. Now retired, he was a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and ran a family business in Weymouth for many years. Before retiring, he joined Dorset County Council as a senior building surveyor. He has been involved with old buildings in the Dorset for most of his career.
The talk focuses on vernacular buildings – those built by local builders using local materials and the building traditions of their area. Using his own C16th cottage plus houses owned by his ancestors, Richard will show how buildings developed in their area together with their various features / materials that allow dating and the phases of their construction to be investigated.
The talk will be held in Hope United Reformed Church at 8 Trinity Street. Tea & biscuits will be served from 2pm and the talk will begin at 2.30pm.
Tickets will be available on the door and are £2.00 for members of the Friends and £3.00 for visitors. (Exact change would be appreciated, if possible).
