The King's Dip Exhibition

Following on from the weekend’s King’s Dip Project which formed part of the King George III Weekend the King’s Dip Exhibition will be taking place in St Thomas Street Weymouth from
Monday 8 – Saturday 13 June 10am to 4.00pm each day

On display will be the school’s creative 4-part collage, produced for this celebration of King George III, and includes all the props and crafts the community of Weymouth produced when asked to create items of their choice on the theme of ‘What Weymouth Means to Me.

Hundreds of children and adults have taken part in 26 separate  projects to culminate in this Exhibition.   It is being supported by volunteers and the premises kindly offered by Beaumont Jones.

A lasting legacy of the King’s Dip Project is a children’s storybook, The Forgotten King, illustrated by local children, to be sold for £9 to help raise funds for Weymouth Museum, in their endeavour to return to Brewers Quay.  They currently await a decision from the Heritage Lottery on their future – but for now operate in a temporary pop-up shop at 39a St Thomas Street, supported by volunteers, of which I am one of them.   An Order List will be set up should the books need another print run, payment in advance will secure a copy quickly from the local independent printer.  The book is a legacy of the whole project,and displayed to be read by two age groups in a very entertaining and colourful way.
