Nao Santa María Visit to Weymouth

From 30 July to 3 August 2025, Weymouth Harbour will welcome an extraordinary visitor — the Nao Santa María, a faithful recreation of the ship that carried Christopher Columbus on his famous 1492 journey across the Atlantic. This striking vessel will be open to the public throughout its stay, offering a rare chance to explore a key piece of maritime history up close.

⚓ Discover the Nao Santa María

Hand-built in 2018 in Spain by the Fundación Nao Victoria, this full-size reconstruction brings the 15th-century carrack to life. Measuring 28 metres in length and weighing in at 200 tons, she was constructed using a blend of historical craftsmanship and modern safety standards. With four towering masts, five sails, and beautifully detailed decks made of pine and iroko wood, the ship offers an impressive and authentic glimpse into the past.

Today, the Nao Santa María travels the world as a floating museum. Visitors of all ages can board and learn more about the vessel that symbolised a turning point in global exploration and human history.
