Julie Ann Scott, a successful professional artist who has been represented by numerous major UK galleries, says:
“Art is my passion, and I am thrilled to be able to help the RNLI raise money for their incredible work at this exciting performance event. The ocean is a constant theme in my painting, so I’m looking forward very much to creating a brand new piece together with a live audience that I hope will capture a scene or a moment that reflects the power and the majesty of the sea, which is such an integral part of our lives here in Dorset”.
Paul Mooney, co-owner of Cove Gallery on Weymouth’s South Harbour, says:
“We have done fundraising events with the RNLI in the past, but nothing quite like this! Julie Ann is one of the gallery’s top artists and has an irresistible, infectious enthusiasm for her work. We’ve never seen art created in this way before, with Julie Ann interacting with a live audience to a stirring musical soundtrack. If you love art, this promises to be something different, a unique moment to remember.
On a personal note, supporting the RNLI means even more to us since our daughter’s life is celebrated by way of an inscription on a recently launched lifeboat. Her memory is honoured on the Connemara-based lifeboat, the St Christopher, and was made possible through the RNLI’s Launch a Memory scheme.”
Teresa Drage, Chair of Fundraising for Weymouth RNLI said;
‘We are very excited to be bringing you this dynamic live event watching Julie-Ann at work as she creates a new piece of art. Being inspired by the sea gives her work resonance with the work of the RNLI which adds real meaning to the occasion. I’d like to thank Paul Mooney from Cove Gallery who has given the RNLI so much support in the past.
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and as a charity, we rely on the kindness and generosity of people to power our lifesaving. With your support to train and equip our volunteer lifeboat crews, lifeguards and water safety educators, we can move closer to a world where no one suffers the devastating loss of a loved one to drowning.’
All art is for sale (including the painting Julie paints for us on the day). 50% of all pieces sold or commissioned on the will be donated to the RNLI.
There will be drinks on arrival and a delicious afternoon tea buffet.
