Hi people, it’s Billy here!
No matter how often we hear, “Open up, let’s just talk, don’t be silent and don’t shut me out!” if you’re anything like me, it’s still an incredibly hard thing to do.
Feeling lonely is such a common problem we all face at some point in our lives and it’s impossible to compare that feeling to anything- so let’s not try!
On Sunday the 10th of March at 7pm come and join me and a number of other people for “Silence on the Sands.” This will take place in front of The Boat Café at the pavilion end of Weymouth Beach. Although there are no rules, let’s put our phones away if we can. Just listen to the wind and the waves.
It’s a simple concept: 30 minutes from our lives in which we just sit, reflect and use the natural elements on our doorstep to wash away any negativity and to realise that you are not alone in whatever struggle you are facing.
If you would like to as well, bring a stone of some kind. Write on the stone your worries and problems. At the end of the 30 minutes we can (safely) go to the waters edge and literally throw our problems away. Will be a nice physical way of telling your issues… “there’s no room for you here!”. So F**k Off!
Maybe you’ve experienced a loss of some kind, or maybe you have just lost yourself recently. This event is for anybody and everybody who wishes to take part – young or old. Think of it as a silent protest against all the shit we have to deal with; flipping the bird to loneliness and showing each other that just by “being” we can also be “doing” a lot for each other.
If you can’t make it or do not feel brave enough to show up, find somewhere quiet and safe where you can reflect and join in. Take a selfie and post it on the wall of the event. Let’s create a visual image of unity and love that we can all use to help when dealing with our demons.
Things you may need: hat and gloves, blanket, chair, coat and drink
