The Nothe Fort
This year marks the 450th anniversary of Melcombe Regis and Weymouth becoming one town. Join the Nothe Fort in celebrating the occasion with a fun-filled day of exciting games and competitions!
Our blue ribbon event is a gig boat race around Nothe Fort, but we will also see teams representing Melcombe Regis and Weymouth battling it out in a tug of war, as well as other challenges for all to participate in, making the MelWey Games 2021 fun for everyone!

The History
In the early days, Weymouth and Melcombe Regis were two separate settlements. Situated on opposite sides of the harbour, they were in continuous competition with each other over which would unload cargoes and claim the landing duties. In 1571, Queen Elizabeth put an end to all that. By Act of Parliament, she combined the two towns to form what most people more simply call Weymouth.
