Step back in time this summer as Portland Museum invites young explorers to discover the fascinating world of archaeology through a fun-filled, hands-on experience.
Taking place over two days, Get Hands-on with History! Archaeology for Kids gives children the rare opportunity to get up close with history, from handling fascinating museum exhibits to examining objects under a microscope.
Hosted by Nature Unearthed, the interactive sessions reveal how people lived thousands of years ago through a range of ancient crafts and skills. Children can discover how natural dyes were created, watch rope being twisted from plant fibres, learn how pottery was made and see how clothing was woven, offering a fascinating insight into life in ancient times.
There is plenty of opportunity to get involved, and young visitors won’t be leaving empty-handed. Children can make and earn their own badges to take home as a lasting reminder of their archaeological adventure.
Ideal for curious young minds, this affordable family event combines learning, discovery and hands-on fun in the unique surroundings of Portland Museum.
