To celebrate a bumper year of events and festivals, Weymouth Town Council and We Are Weymouth (BID) have teamed up to bring you the 2025 events leaflet, which is bursting with exciting and unmissable events for all to enjoy.
From free live music sessions and summer firework displays to zombie and pirate-themed weekends, 2025 has something for everyone to discover and enjoy across the town.
Plus, many of the town’s iconic events make a return including the Wessex Folk Festival, Fayre in the Square and the Armed Forces Weekend celebrations. This year we have the 80th anniversary of VE Day which the Town Council will be celebrating with a beacon lighting on 8th May, followed by a free music concert on the beach on Saturday 10th May, and an array of community events to complement these activities. And there are numerous cultural events in the offing celebrating Portland and Weymouth Towns of Culture.
There is something going on in Weymouth all year round and in September, people will be able to experience the Dusk ‘til Dark event, including a parade through the streets of Weymouth, which features the finale of the national Beach of Dreams and Inside Out Festival. October sees the return of the popular Lions Beach Motocross, bringing thrills and spills to the hundreds of spectators who line the promenade. The beach bonfire and fireworks in the bay will light up the dark November night and is one that always draws in the crowds. Plus, the popular Elf Parade, world record attempt, Christmas Lights Switch-On, Steampunk Parade, Chase the Pudding event and a Christmas Day Harbour Swim all make a welcome return in November and December to round-off the packed programme.

Dawn Rondeau-Irvine, Chief Operation Officer for We Are Weymouth, said: “Once again we are thrilled to be sponsoring an exciting schedule of events such as Wessex Folk Festival, The National Volleyball Championships, Dusk Til Dark, Era weekends, Zombies and all our Christmas celebrations. Events bring visitors to the town before, during and after every occasion – all making the most of what Weymouth has to offer.”
“Events encourage everyone to visit, have fun and enjoy our wonderful town, harbour and seafront. We hope you enjoy the wonderful variety of free events listed in the flyer, not forgetting the incredible array of live music events, concerts and theatre also being delivered throughout 2025.”
Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Jon Orrell said: “We are delighted to be launching our events programme for 2025, which is promising to be a fabulous year full of different fun, exciting and memorable events for all to enjoy. We are really looking forward to bringing you our popular Armed Forces Weekend in June and the summer season of fireworks. This year we are also proud to be celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a beacon lighting on 8th May and a beach concert on 10th May. We can’t wait to see you in Weymouth over 2025, which is shaping up to be a wonderful year and the perfect place to make long lasting memories.”
