Weymouth’s largest taxi firm, Weyline Taxis, have caused quite a stir with their Pride inspired taxi fleet. A rainbow minibus and fleet of cars joined Weyline’s 90 taxis, proudly displaying the Pride rainbow flag.
Ian Ferguson, Managing Director of Weyline Taxis, tells us more: “When the organisers of Weymouth Pride approached me with their idea, I jumped at the chance to get involved. I have always been a massive supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Things have moved on massively in recent years, but it’s essential to support events like this, especially here in Weymouth. There has never been anything like this here and it’s a great progressive thing for the town to get behind and do.
Weyline are one of the many sponsors of the first ever Weymouth & Portland Pride. The event runs for 3 days from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July in Weymouth’s Radipole Park Gardens. The event combines ticketed and free events across the weekend.
Ian continues “Weyline sees Pride as an opportunity to showcase Weymouth and the surrounding areas to a new demographic, reflecting the positive change of attitudes to diversity across the country, we are proud to support Pride!”
