Great news has been announced about Weymouth Fireworks 2024
Next year’s dates for summer firework displays and funfair bookings have been agreed by Weymouth Town Council’s Environment and Services Committee.
These Weymouth Seafront Fireworks have become immensely popular among visitors and locals alike over past years so this news is very good news for anyone planning a visit next summer. These summer displays, renowned for their mesmerizing spectacle, are a favorite attraction for many. One of the key reasons for their widespread appeal is the fact that they are completely free for everyone to enjoy. As the night sky illuminates with vibrant bursts of color, families, friends, and tourists gather together to witness this captivating event, creating lasting memories of their time in Weymouth.
Following a decision at this week’s committee meeting, five firework displays will take place on Mondays during the summer holidays including July 29th, and August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th.
Officers were also requested to explore commercial sponsorship opportunities for at least two of the events.
Plus, the traditional firework display in November will also take place along the seafront.
The proposed dates for the funfair bookings at the Pavilion Forecourt and the Jubilee Clock site along the promenade were also approved as follows:
Pavilion Forecourt location
March 29th to April 14th, Easter holidays
May 4th to 6th, three days
May 25th to June 2nd, nine days
July 29th to August 31st, split over two bookings. The first is from July 29th to 21st August and the second is from August 22nd to September 1st to allow for variety and for no one operator to have a monopoly.
October 19th to 27th, nine days over the October half term school holiday.
November 5th, firework night.
Jubilee Clock location
August 9th to 21st, 12 days.
Weymouth Town Council declared a climate emergency and as part of this commitment, the funfair operators will be asked to improve the energy efficiency of their operations and reduce the use of diesel generators to help reduce carbon emissions.
Cllr Ryan Hope, Chair of Environment and Services Committee, said: “A number of firework displays and funfair bookings have been agreed as part of Weymouth Town Council’s events programme for 2024. They create a great atmosphere as well as providing a welcome boost to the local economy with residents and holiday makers flocking to the town to enjoy these popular events.”
The dates were agreed at the Environment and Services Committee meeting on Wednesday 1st November.
