We Are Weymouth (BID) is excited to announce that Weymouth has been voted The Sunday Times Best Beach in Britain 2023. This monumental achievement came off the back of a voting campaign where We Are Weymouth (BID) asked locals, businesses, and visitors to vote for Weymouth Beach! Using social media and email marketing, We Are Weymouth (BID) worked with the local community to help ensure Weymouth got the top spot. Facebook posts reached a whopping 80,000 people and with the combined efforts of We Are Weymouth and Loving Weymouth & Portland enough votes were cast for the win.

Dawn Rondeau, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth (BID) comments: “We knew that we needed to campaign hard and share this opportunity with our local and visitor communities. Weymouth is loved by so many, with generations returning year on year to experience our wonderful beach and all it has to offer, and this is really reflected in the voting for The Sunday Times Britain’s Best Beach. We are proud of the beach and all that Weymouth Town Council does to maintain it and ensure it meets the blue flag status and wanted to ensure we gained recognition for the town. We’d like to thank all our followers who shared, liked, commented, and voted, giving Weymouth Beach the praise, it deserves. We’d also like to thank Chris Haslam from the Sunday Times Newspaper for taking the time to visit and film Weymouth, showing exactly what makes it so special.”

Weymouth Beach has long been a popular beach destination in the UK, dating back to when King George III began visiting in 1789 – popularising the seaside visit for the first time. Nowadays, Weymouth is a vibrant beach location with a Blue Flag Award Winning Beach, a beautiful harbour, picturesque Esplanade, and bustling town centre.

After a day on the beach, why not stop for dinner in one of Weymouth’s award-winning restaurants or head to one of many live music venues. Don’t forget a cocktail or glass of wine on the seafront admiring the Bay.
