Weymouth welcomes dogs and their owners but in common with most seaside resorts has restrictions on what parts of the beach dogs can be exercised on during the holiday season.
Dogs are allowed in most public areas including the Esplanade providing they are kept on a lead, in certain recreation grounds and areas around them dogs are not allowed so just look out for the signs.
Dogs are excluded from Greenhill Groyne to the pavilion end of the Beach from 1 May to 30 September, there is a dog exercise area at the pavilion end of the beach which has no restrictions all year round.
Good to see you have updated this information for visitors following Weymouth Beach Dog Walkers Group mentioning it in a comment
Thank you Linda happy to be of assistance.
At the beginning of 2021, Dorset Council introduced new restrictions on walking dogs. I used to be allowed to walk my dog off lead in Nothe Gardens throughout the winter months. This is no longer permitted. Well done Dorset Council for making lock down just that bit more miserable.
