As part of  We Are Weymouth’s amazing Steampunk weekend Weymouth’s Nothe Fort shall be transformed, for just one day, into a creative world of steampunk imagination that could of sprung from the pages of a novel by Jules Verne or HG Wells.

Feel free to dress in your Victorian best and join in. This is your chance to feel part of a World which will only be here in Weymouth for less than 48 hours. Great fun for all the family and an amazing backdrop for you to take photographs. The Ministry of Steampunk also have some spot awards to give out to well dressed visitors. Take inspiration or simply admire the outfits, gadgets and accessories of more than a hundred regular steampunks.

Exhibitions & stalls

The Ministry are also organising an exhibition of steampunk art works and features. From sophisticated fantastical gadgets to complete costumes and displays.

Some are pure creativity which would not look out of place on The Nautilus or preparing to face the Martians from War of the Worlds whilst others are reimaginings of popular culture.

What might a time traveller encounter if the universe were steampunk and is that animated life size droid really called R0D2?

We have a special selection of steampunk artisans and makers. They will be delighted to talk to you about upcycling and making steampunk outfits and props and will have a display of items you most definitely can’t buy in the shops. Perhaps you will discover something unique for Christmas.

Steampunk Santa

As it’s Christmas then look out for our very own (and slightly grinchy) steampunk Santa.
He will be very keen to use his Naughty/Nice detector to see if your children deserve any presents this year? Are they brave enough and will they wear their prizes with pride?

Craft workshops

Throughout the day we have a workshop for you to join in with. Here you have the chance to create your very own steampunk Christmas decoration and then take it home for your tree, reminding you of a fabulous day out. You can also join Lady M for a special crafting session.

Our special guest is Mr Marc Burroughs. Marc is a popular comedian and musician, member of one of the World’s leading steampunk bands “The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing”. He is also the award winning biographer of the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett. Come along and hear some of Marc’s insights into the creative genius.

All of this plus the splendid attractions of the Nothe itself. From gun decks to fabulous views from the ramparts. Explore the tunnels and secrets of a Victorian gem.
