The organisers of SEAFEAST are delighted to collaborate with Weymouth College to present the ‘School of Fish’ – FREE children’s cookery workshops at this year’s Dorset Seafood Festival, taking place on the 9th & 10th September.

Weymouth College is Weymouth’s further education centre and offers a fantastic range of food, hospitality and catering courses making it the perfect partner for the Festivals cookery school. As well as being a centre of excellence, the college boasts its very own restaurant that is open to the public throughout the year – The Avenue Restaurant – Weymouth College. You’ll be able to try some of its dishes from the Avenue seafood stall at the Festival! The cookery school provides an amazing opportunity for families attending the Festival to create their own seafood dishes, learning all about the fantastic seafood available in our UK waters

Ashley Perry, Catering Skills Lead & Avenue Manager at Weymouth College: “It is fantastic to spark up the partnerships with SEAFEAST again. Weymouth College has in the past enjoyed being part of the festival, growing our presence within the local community. We look forward to getting back involved this year. We are proud to be supporting the School of Fish cookery workshops, allowing the staff and students at the college to inspire the next generation of chefs. The Festival does a great job at showcasing the fantastic things you can do with seafood whilst maintaining a strong focus on sustainability for the future of which we are in full support”

You can book your child into one of the cookery workshops where they can try their hand at creating a tasty fish dish with fully trained chefs, and get to enjoy their very own fish supper! They will be provided with an apron, chef’s hat and all the equipment necessary – all you have to do is book a space and turn up!

Once you have booked your adult tickets for the Festival, you can book your child’s FREE place on the ‘School of Fish’ cookery workshop here: www.dorsetseafood.co.uk/school

The Festival is one of the most celebrated weekends in Weymouth’s event calendar and helps to raise money for The Fishermen’s Mission; the only fishermen’s charity that provides emergency support alongside practical and emotional care.
