Nothe Fort have been taken aback by the volume of enquiries and the overwhelmingly positive interest in The Longest Yarn 2, and are pleased to announce a longer duration for this much-loved exhibition. It will now run throughout the peak summer holidays, from 1 July – 24 August 2026.
Visitors can see this remarkable collection of knitted World War II scenes that tell the story of wartime Britain. Each panel has been lovingly created by talented makers through thousands of hours of skilled craftsmanship, combining creativity, heritage, and community spirit into a visually captivating exhibition.
Perfect for art lovers, history enthusiasts, and curious minds alike, this exhibition highlights the power of craft to bring history to life in an engaging way.
Nothe Fort Events and Marketing Coordinator, Connie Jenkins-Teague said:
“We’re thrilled to be extending The Longest Yarn 2 exhibition. It’s an incredibly popular attraction so we recommend booking your tickets in advance to skip the queues! We’d also like to say a big thank you to everyone who has made knitted bunting for our decorations. With under a week to go, we can’t wait to welcome visitors, and we hope the exhibition trail encourages you to look even more closely at the incredible detail in every piece.”
Adding to the excitement, families can now take part in a brand-new Knitted Mouse Hunt, a playful scavenger hunt where visitors spot knitted mice around the Fort, generously made by local crafters.
