Visit Nothe Fort for an immersive Science Weekend in celebration of British Science Week. The Fort will be offering science-based activities, themed games in the Family Room, and live science demonstrations for all the family to enjoy.

The Fort is pleased to be hosting the following activity providers:

“Fantastic Forces at the Fort” – by Kinetic Kate of Fun Science Dorset
Saturday 8th March
Demonstrations at 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm & 2:30pm
Featuring fun science activity tables and outdoor demonstrations. Suitable for young children.

“The Science of Scent: Smells of the Fort” – by Liam Findlay of AromaPrime
Saturday 8th March and Sunday 9th March
Demonstrations at: 10:45am, 11:45am, 12:45pm, 1:45pm, 2:45pm
Learn how we can recreate the scents of the past and smell the history of the Fort. Liam is also a local author and will have copies of his children’s books available to buy. Suitable for all ages.

“Special Operations Executive Sciences” – by John the Mad Scientist
Sunday 9th March
Demonstrations at: 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:15pm, 2:15pm
Featuring talks and demonstrations on small arms training, explosives, lockpicking, self-defence and more. Suitable for children aged 8+ and young adults.

All activities are bookable at the Shop Desk on arrival.

The Events Coordinator for Nothe Fort said: “We are so pleased to be bringing the history of the Fort to life through science and play. STEM subjects are all around us, from how the Fort was constructed, to the tiniest mechanisms in the Artillery’s weapons. Come along and learn something new this weekend!”
