“I found a fossilised lobster claw and I could hardly believe I was holding one of my favourite foods – but fossilised and millions of years old!” says Casey Rich, one of seven Weymouth fossil collectors exhibiting their collections at the Weymouth Pop-Up Museum from 6 March to 31 May. “It was at that moment with that discovery that sparked a profound fascination with the prehistoric world. I wanted to understand more, find more, and see what else these rocks were hiding.”

Weymouth is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The fossils of Lyme Regis and Purbeck are world famous, but the Weymouth area too has its own fossil story and this will be told in an exhibition at Pop-Up Museum in St Thomas Street.
