Elves are coming back to Weymouth this November with We Are Weymouth’s Elf World Record Attempt andk the Christmas Light Illumination.  This year, locals and visitors alike are asked to don their best elf attire and head down to New Bond Street to help beat the world record – 2,000 elves are needed.

The elf celebrations will begin at 10am with a screening of Arthur Christmas in Cineworld, followed by a day of entertainment in the town and on the stage in New Bond Street until 8pm.  Scattered throughout the town the elf workshops return with bauble making and crafts, elf letter writing and much more.  Running alongside is the Elf Trail where participants can find the letter on each elf, decipher the word and submit for a prize.  Fun for the whole family guaranteed!

Not only will our local businesses be donning their best elf costumes, late-night-shopping will be available until 8pm, as well as free parking in the town.  The perfect opportunity to get ahead of the game with Christmas shopping in the soft glow of Weymouth’s Christmas lights.  For those looking to stay out a little later and experience Weymouth’s fantastic nightlife, The Closet night club is hosting an Elf night – have you been naughty or nice?

/Finally, keep your eyes peeled for the larger-than-life Elf and the Christmas Animated Light Show and snow as the lights go on at 5pm playing right through until 8pm.

Dawn Rondeau, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth (BID) comments:  “Christmas in Weymouth is such a special time and after the huge success of our calendar of Christmas activities in 2021, we knew 2022 had to be bigger and better!  We’re bringing back the elves to the town, with counting stations and registration – so we’ll know for certain if we have beaten our target of 2000 elves in the town just before the lights go on. We Are Weymouth (BID) wants to put Weymouth on the map for a unique Christmas experience and is committed to making the day special for visitor’s, locals and businesses supplying shops with bunting, ensuring that and there will be entertainment throughout the town until 8pmas well as late night shopping, and providing a special projection light animation show as the town’s Christmas lights go on!

The 26th November marks the start of the festive season here in Weymouth and we hope that locals and visitors will join us for what promises to be a really special day.”
