Radipole Park Gardens
The Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens are preparing for their biggest event of the year, a family fun day designed to offer something for everyone to enjoy.
The event will feature a growing mix of stalls, activities, games, and displays, with more attractions being added as plans continue to develop. The group’s regular plant stall will also be part of the day.
This year’s event is linked with Weymouth’s Armed Forces Weekend, reflecting an important part of the park’s history. One of the key reasons the park’s Lottery grant bid was successful was its wartime heritage. During the Second World War, British troops were stationed and trained there, and as American forces arrived in the build-up to D-Day, they took over the park and its facilities.
To mark that connection, there will be a Weymouth in WWII display, giving visitors the chance to discover more about what was happening in the local area at a time when it was classed as part of the war zone.
