Nothe Fort Weymouth is inviting families, history enthusiasts, and curious adventurers to travel back to the 1940s as it launches an immersive WW2 Week Half‑Term event, running from Saturday 14th to Sunday 22nd February, 10am–4pm.

Nothe Fort is delighted to be working with local young reenactment group ‘Blighty to Berlin’ who are developing the Nothe Fort WW2 Living History experience.

Ruben Edwards, the WW2 Garrison Coordinator said, ‘We have grown up visiting Nothe Fort and so it is special to be able to develop a collaboration with the Fort.

We are passionate about bringing history to life, and we look forward to providing authentic immersive experiences for all’.

The WW2 Garrison will show the authentic duties carried out by the soldiers stationed at Nothe Fort during the Second World War, with activities such as:

Parade Ground marching drills
Watch the Garrison practice their marching drills in the Fort’s Parade Ground

  • Guard Duty
    Keep a look-out for soldiers stationed around the Fort – a perfect photo opportunity!
  • Coastal Watch Patrols
    Join in with the patrols around the Ramparts (weather allowing
  • Soldier School Recruitment
    Learn how soldiers enlisted during WW2, and try on some kit
  • Anti‑Aircraft Gun Drills
    See how soldiers would have responded to enemy aircraft

This themed Living History group will be attending WW2 Half-Term on Monday 16th, Wednesday 18th, and Friday 20th February, and will also be regularly attending the Fort the 3rd Saturday of every month from March onwards.

That’s not all! In Half-Term, visitors can explore crucial wartime roles while collecting job stamps for each activity.

Interactive Activities include:

  • Junior Assault Course Training
  • Special Forces Cave Tunnel, by South Coast Adventures Ltd, on Wed 18, Thur 19 February only
  • Biplane Building Craft Workshop, between 11am – 3pm daily
  • Friend or Foe Plane Spotting, teaching visitors how enemy aircraft were identified.
  • World War II Mouse Hunt, a family-friendly trail around the Fort, and more!
