Hidden Secrets: The Cold War Bunker – Adult Tours

Sat 22nd March only

On Saturday 22nd March, adults and older teens can join us for a special tour of The Cold War Bunker, with talks led by Cold War Bunker Researcher “Bunker Matt”, in the Engine Room at 11:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:00pm.

Learn about the secret system that was put in place during the Cold War era that enabled a select number of people to survive a nuclear strike.

In 1983, unbeknown to the local community, part of Nothe Fort was secretly converted into a local authority emergency centre as part of the UK’s defence preparations for nuclear war.

Come and join our friendly and knowledgeable team of volunteers for a unique insight into how this much-loved Victorian fort was secretly utilised during the latter part of the Cold War.

The Nuclear Bunker Talks and tours are suitable for adults and older teens. Book your Talk ticket on arrival.

The Events Coordinator for Nothe Fort, Connie Jenkins-Teague said: “With plenty of games and performances for families, and detailed talks and exhibitions for grown-ups, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come along for some historical fun at the Fort this weekend!”

This event is covered by your Annual Pass/General Admission ticket price. Don’t forget, Nothe Fort is Dog-friendly, so bring the whole family!
