We Are Weymouth invites locals and visitors alike to don their dancing shoes and red lipstick as the town steps back into the 1940s and 1950s from 18th to 26th October 2025.
Part of the ongoing #WeyBackWhen campaign, which celebrates Weymouth through the eras, the week promises nostalgic tunes, retro fashion, and classic film screenings capturing the golden age of seaside life.
Dawn Rondeau-Irvine, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth, said: “Our #WeyBackWhen campaign has struck a real chord, people love sharing their memories and celebrating the eras that made Weymouth what it is today. The 40s & 50s Week is a chance to relive the glamour, music, and energy of the time – from swing and rock ’n’ roll to milkshakes and jukeboxes – it’s all about nostalgia, community, and having fun together by the sea.”
The celebrations continue in true rock ’n’ roll style with the Weymouth Rock & Roller Weekender (25th 26th October) a two-day festival of live music, dancing, and vintage flair. Eleven of the UK’s leading acts will perform, including The Firebirds, Shane & The Korrado’s, JD & Dynamite, and The Roosters, hosted by Glenn Darren and DJ Teddy Boy Ty, ensuring non-stop rhythm across the weekend.
“The Rock & Roller Weekender is one of the biggest celebrations of its kind on the UK circuit,”said Paul from Venture Away Music Weekends. “It’s all about keeping the music, the dancing, and the style of the 1950s alive.”
Alongside these live performances, Weymouth Pavilion brings the era’s sparkle to the big screen and stage with a series of film screenings and shows that capture the timeless spirit of the 40s and 50s.
