We used to holiday every year in Weymouth in the late 50s early 60s. Stayed in a guest house in trinity terrace above the church. I used to sit on the cushions in the window and watch the train along the harbour to the passenger boats the the channel islands. Once HMS Eagle moored in the bay and we went in a boat to see her. When my children were small we went on a boat around the bay, the skipper told us she was one of the small ships that went to Dunkirk. Cant remember her name, something like the Weymouth belle? Oh and the Nothe fort it was all closed up then

If you’d like to see how we used to be why not follow Weymouth Museum their posts are fascinating 🙂There was a little water under the Bridge yesterday, but it is worth remembering that the inner arch was in fact originally a waterway. This photograph is from 1938. ... See MoreSee Less

Remember that special Sunday, sat under the Nothe Fort watching Ben Ainslie winning gold and holding the flare at the end of the final heat.
Not being a sailor never have I got so excited about something I know nothing about and didn't have a clue what was going on, fantastic 🤗
Total honour to be here for such a great achievement ,very special atmosphere indeed.
Would loved to have been there but I was actually working in the Olympic stadium at Stratford, I can imagine the atmosphere though, it was magical in the stadium!
It was a special time for Weymouth & Portland
We were sitting by Sandsfoot Castle watching and there were a lot of people from different countries waving their flags. The feeling was one of warmth and fun.
