From the late 1800’s until the mid 1960’s Pathe News covered news stories across the UK to be shown in cinemas throughout the country and over this time their film crews visited Weymouth and Portland regularly.
There is a huge archive available of their material which until a few days ago was only available on their website but now it’s being made more publicly available for sharing on sites like ours via their YouTube Channel which is really good news as the archive contains some very important and fascinating material shot in Weymouth Portland and South Dorset.

It is uncanny how similar two of these men look to my partner and his brother, whose father grew up in Portland and whose relatives worked in the quarry. Does anyone know who these men are by name?
