‘Harmonics’ is open to anyone who likes to sing, with no need for participants to read music as all songs are taught by ear. We learn songs from this country and from around the world.
There are no auditions and no need to sing on your own. Even if you only currently sing to yourself in the car or in the shower, you’ll find yourself very quickly losing any self-consciousness and singing with others in glorious unaccompanied harmony.
Meeting once a week, we have masses of fun, learning and singing in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. We start off each session with a gentle warm up to get you ready to sing, and to work on improving different aspects of your singing voice (e.g. range, breathing, posture..) before learning the songs bit by bit, gradually building up harmony parts until each song comes together. There’s a huge sense of achievement people feel, and I’m often told that the singers are amazed by what they can achieve and how good they sound together.
However tired or low you feel when you arrive, you’ll find that singing in an inclusive group like this will lift your spirits and your energy, distract you from worries and even pain, and there’s a great social element to each session, with a break in the middle for tea and chat!
