    Weymouth parkrun

FIRST PANIC APPEAL OF THE WEEK...

It’s Mike here, your Volunteer Co-ordinator for next Saturday’s wonderful Weymouth parkrun. And, yes, I’m invading your timeline once again with another appeal for volunteers.

Things are looking rather bleak at the moment and I’d really like to get some more names on the list to avoid a last minute panic / dragging people of the streets etc. If you are able to help out, the current list of vacancies looks like this:

2 x TIMEKEEPERS (stand at the finish line, click the watch as runners cross)
1 x NUMBER CHECKER (stand at the finish and take spot check times from runners)
    4 x MARSHALS (stand on a corner, cheer / shout / encourage)
2 x FUNNEL MANAGERS (stand at the finish funnel and ensure runners get from the line to the token desk in the right order)
3 x BARCODE SCANNERS (zap runners’ barcodes and their tokens with our scanners)
1 x FINISH TOKEN SUPPORT (record barcodes on a sheet if they fail to scan)
1 x BUDDY (run at 35-40 min pace and help anyone who needs it)
1 x POST-EVENT CLOSEDOWN (help us pack everything away after the run)

If you can help, please reply below or email weymouth@parkrun.com. If you've never volunteered before, why not make this week your first time? We're a decent(ish) bunch and all the roles are simple and fun.

    Thanks all

    Mike

    Weymouth parkrun

The results are in, and I'd just like to thank all the volunteers, but particularly all the guys in the finish area for doing an absolutely A-MAZ-ING job at our busiest ever parkrun. operational problems meant that about 22 time records are missing 501-522, so if you are in that window and know your time, please let me know,

So our new record is 696 runners, exactly 200 more than our previous best. There were 128 first timers and 66 new PBs.

You were all great, but I will give a special mention to course record holder Phil Wicks and former course record holder Emily Wicks. I believe they used to hold the record as the fastest husband and wife combined time for the London Marathon ... on the subject of which ... I shall not be at Weymouth parkrun next week 🙂

In my absence I hope you have the time of your lives!

Grand job Keith. We need Steve to post his video of your busking in the pub garden 😊 Oh and good luck next week x

Well done everyone, amazing job with all the tourists. Still well organised and fun.

Thanks for the add Keith! That was an easy one for you 😊 Well done to everyone on the team yesterday x

Fabulous work guys ... thank you from one of your extra tourists today. Great support from all the volunteers. 😎

Amazing turnout, gutted I was working, would have loved to be a part of yesterday’s record breaker

Well done to all in the finish area, I imagine it got a bit hairy at times today. Fab job Keith and good luck for next week 👍

So the epitaph would read something like, “Keith, a great results processor who took on the 700 beast and gallantly won”. Well done Keith, a sterling effort with less than the usual info. The missing 501-522 placing would concur with mine and Sally’s handing over of the sacred stopwatch! Oh well, we all live to fight another day.

Well done Keith for pulling that together!! Tough job for anyone. Have a great run next week it'll be a breeze compared to Parkrun results this week!! 😁😁 xx

Well done Keith and all the amazing volunteers this week. What an incredible number 😊

Sorry we missed it, but we were tourists at Haldon Forest parkrun

Amazing job Keith. That was a tough job today.

Great job Keith it was a tough one 👍

Good luck next week Keith Pullen 🏃‍♂️

Wow so close to that 700 mark and so unexpectedly! Well done all for managing that out of the blue 🙂
