Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s engineers will be carrying out planned maintenance works on Weymouth’s Pleasure Pier from the 1 February for six weeks.

During this time, the pier and pedestrian approach will be closed for engineer access only. Roadside notifications will be put in place to warn the public of closures.

The work involves concrete repairs to the sub structure to improve the current condition of the pier.

Councillor Ian Bruce, Chairman of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Management Committee said; “Councillors are ensuring that keeping the pier and harbour in good repair is a key priority. These works form part of a necessary safety upgrade for the pier to ensure public welfare comes first. The pier is over 80 years old and needs thorough maintenance to allow continued enjoyment of the area. These repairs are part of the Peninsular improvements.”

Works will not affect the car park, or visitors to the Jurassic Skyline.
